Baraka Ventures launched the PCRF new community website through zeedna, the Middle East’s first online social publishing platform

Dubai, December 2010 - Baraka Ventures, a social entrepreneurship and web technology business incubator and advisory services company, launched the PCRF new community website through the zeedna software, a service social publishing platform.

Volunteers can sign up on http://community.pcrf.net, and are offered their support aided by the rich social community features enabled on the site. Members of the PCRF community page can update a profile section that gives the PCRF insight into their unique abilities to support the PCRF. Members can take a active role to document their interactions with PCRF patients, and doctor missions by uploading photos and writing blogs. THey can also invite members of their community to events and manage the process.  Members can also join specific country chapters and receive related updates to PCRF activities happening in their hometown. They can join groups within the chapter or independent ones to interact and invite people with a common interest.

zeedna provides tiered community management rights to moderate content and manage members. Chapter managers have administrative rights over their chapters and groups within. They can send messages to all members of the chapter, create events and invite members along with people from the external community to attend and confirm.  Group managers oversee their groups; sending invites, editing information, scheduling events and writing blogs.

"We are delighted to be working with the PCRF to demonstrate how our publishing platform can connect volunteers, corporates and the medical sector to support charity" says Mahmoud Abu-Wardeh, General Manager of Baraka Ventures.

Steve Sosebee, President and CEO of the PCRF states that "this new site will enable people who want to have a personal impact on the lives of children in Palestine and the diaspora to network with other PCRF volunteers all over the world so we can better organize and affect positive change there."

"It will empower people who otherwise lacked the tools to communicate and interact with others for specific humanitarian issues related to the lives of sick and injured children living in poverty, under occupation or outside of their homeland as never before."

"We are excited about bringing in as many like-minded people under the PCRF social network to help us reach more children in need."

zeedna is the first middle east based social publishing platform that is well suited for institutions across sectors. The platform promises to take advantage of web 2.0 capabilities of social networking, social media publishing and much more.

zeedna launched in 2010, the latest addition to the portfolio of incubated Baraka Ventures, headquartered in the Dubai Media City Freezone. zeedna includes packages such z.communities, z.campaigns and z.transact. Its co-founders, Rama Chakaki and Mahmoud Abu-Wardeh, have 40 years of telecommunications, internet and startup experience between them.
