Last Sunday (Dec 19th, 2010) I attended Arabnet Workshop in Dubai. It was a three-hour session, in which organizers didn't save any effort to make it great event for entrepreneurs, investors, and business consultants to meet and discuss how creative talents and ideas can make it through to be a successful business model.
The session started with presentations from speakers who represented their legal, investment and business development firms. In addition to some case studies of successful business stories and how they started with an idea and reach 6 digits revenue.
The legal speaker talked about company types in UAE and the best choices that a startup can make to have legal presence in UAE. The high cost of licensing and office space was a common feature among all.
Riyada was represented by Saqib Rashid who explained how Riyada supports business from various domains in different stages. And so did twofour54 representative.
It was also nice to meet some university colleagues over their who have just started their business journey.
I will check with the organizer if presentations are available online. For now, I will share some pictures from the workshop
