5 steps to grow your online community

Small is beautiful! BUT if growing the number of your online community members is what you're aiming for.. then here are five tips to do it..

  1. Create Content - and I mean create! don't just replicate content you see on other sites.. come up with material that is relevant to your community, and do it regularly.  Your commitment to  publish frequently is important .. even if the content is minimal.. it can be a photo, a question or a poll.
  2. Communicate with your exsiting members -  It is a social network.. you want to engage your current members and get them involved in spreading your content.  How do you do that? Ask questions.. send out calls to action.. invite your members to be proactive and interactive. Do that boldly, in areas your community can see clearly.. like your homepage banner.
  3. Incentivize your members to share content - Put yourself in your community member's shoes.. what will get him/her to share content with friends and colleagues? Recognition in a blog post? a mention on twitter for the top contributors? or simply giving them more of what they like.  Make incentives manageable and repeatable. A little that lasts is better than alot that doesn't!
  4. Push your content to other communities  - find out where your target online users are, and send information their way! INTER-social media network communication is critical. Your content can easily travel. You can push it out to Facebook, Twitter and other social networks yourself or encourage your members to do so.  We call pushing out content z.socialize and z.engage
  5. Monitor what worked and repeat it - Remember, it is all about the outcome! if measure your efforts, you can determine what works and what doesn't and adjust.  Don't leave it to chance, keep track of your activities;  assess what appeals to your current members and new prospects and repeat!

Tell us how to goes! if we aren't giving you the right advice, we will share yours with our community..
